Two species, B. berkeleyi and B. mesenterica, are commonly reported in North America and Europe but the genus is poorly known elsewhere. In comparison, the hen of the woods has many smaller, grayish brownish caps. Thinking back on this experience, it now makes perfect sense why this fungus was on display.
